Mātai ki te rangi, tērā ko Paunga ko te tohu mo te tau hou
As one gazes to the heavens, it is Paunga signalling the New Year
Pungarehu Marae
On Thursday March the12th. We went to Pungarehu Marae.
The marae is small and old but it has a lot of history and stories. It was peaceful until we came
There are five buildings. They are the tattoo house (Pou Tawaroa Tetana), Whare kai, Whare nui, Ruruhau and toilet (wharepaku).
When you’re at the marae you feel like you’ve been welcomed into their Marae and you feel special to be in such a nice and cool place. When you feel part of the family it is peaceful and it makes you very happy.
